Healthy Hair Journey

Hello Berries!

I am going to be honest, my hair is damaged! I don’t have heat damage, but I do have color damage and it is sad. The front of my hair has no curl pattern; it is just a limp wave type pattern. I have decided to start a healthy hair journey to repair my hair and grow it healthy and longer. I also want to clear my scalp issues and calm my seborrheic dermatitis. So on August 1 I will be starting my healthy hair journey!

Keeping Hair Simple

Hello Berries!

So I get a lot of questions about what I do to my hair and honestly I can never really tell people, because I really don’t do anything to my hair. I keep it simple and do the bare minimum to keep it from looking crazy. I think that is what people with natural hair or hair in general forget to do. You do not have to do all this extra stuff to your hair to get it to look nice or to grow. If you just love your care and take care of it, then it will grow. One thing that I learned is my hair likes to cleaned and left alone.

So here are some simple steps for any person with hair, whether you are natural, relaxed, texlaxed, transitioning, or whatever.

**** I will not be talking about co-washing, because I do not like to co-wash. This is all my own opinion and the things that I think you should do to your hair.

Cleanse your hair

You can co-wash your hair if you please, but you MUST shampoo your hair at least once a month. If you are using products with chemicals or heavy oils, you must strip all that product out of your hair and scalp or that stuff will sit on your hair and make it look dull or will gunk up your scalp and cause some issues.

Condition your hair

You need to replenish the hair of all the stuff you look out of it when you cleansed your hair. Find something that makes your hair soft and able to detangle easily.

Deep Condition your hair

I do not deep condition my hair. I do not have time for this and have yet to find a deep conditioner that works for me. I do use a protein treatment once a month though. Honestly, this step is optional.

Moisturize your hair

Leave-ins, butters, and oils. You do not have to use the LOC or LCO method in this step, but you do want to use something that moisturizes the hair and seals in that moisture.

Style your hair

Style your hair the way you want your hair to look and leave it alone or not, the choice is yours. Just enjoy YOUR hair.

Question: What is your regimen?

Thanks for being beautiful

Dealing with Seborrheic Dermatitis

Seborrheic Dermatitis has been something that I’ve been dealing with since I was 15. It’s not debilitating, very painful, contagious, or life threatening; it’s just EXTREMELY annoying and very hard to deal with. You have the flaking, the itching, the redness, and the sensitive skin. And once all of this stops, you’re left with the tell-tell sign of the discoloration. I hate it! I hate the skin on my face and how it flakes and becomes inflamed, and I become self-conscious, because I have a huge butterfly mark across my face and it burns if anything touches it! This can be treated with a mild soap and shea butter with coconut oil and scrubbing the first layer of skin off my face. However to treat the discoloration, I use monistat and I swear this works and it works well. It just makes my skin unbelievably greasy, but it also makes my skin all even and smooth! I also hate my scalp, because my scalp seems to be infested by Satan himself! It’s red and angry ALL THE TIME!!! I’ve tried Head & Shoulders and Neutrogena and MG217 and my scalp still hates me. The Head & Shoulders Clinical Strength worked for awhile, but after about three months my scalp was back angry and the flaking wasn’t completely gone. So I tried MG217 and it is my holy grail! It works. It slows down the growth and helps with the inflammation and the itchiness. However I choose not to use this after the first two weeks, because it contains coal tar, a known carcinogenic and I can’t risk getting cancer just to stop an itchy scalp. I’m starting a new regimen with the shampoo, because I really need something that works. Well, I” figure it out later. Well, until later *smoochies* Berries!

Dealing with Seborrheic Dermatitis

I finally went back to the shampoo that has helped my seborrheic dermatitis , MG217 Psoriasis. This stuff is a miracle worker in a bottle ! I’ve tried the Head & Shoulders Clinical Strength , which worked for awhile , but it can’t hold a candle to this stuff ! I haven’t used it in awhile , because it contains coal tar & it is a carcinogenic & I didn’t want my scalp to become immune to this shampoo & stop working. Plus it’s kind of expensive for me , $12 for 8 oz. But it works !

I think I’m going to use it every 4 days for 2 weeks , them once a every other month , but we week see , depending on how my scalp reacts.
